Spider veins Although most people seek treatment for cosmetic reasons, research has shown that the majority of people with leg thread veins actually have underlying vein problems. The ND: YAG 1064nm laser treatment can be used, especially in the case of smaller spider veins where a needle would not be appropriate. ND: YAG 1064nm involves directing intense light directly at the veins. This causes the blood within them to coagulate and the blood is then diverted to veins deeper below the surface of the skin where it should be.
The appearance of the veins is greatly improved and the associated symptoms disappear as well.
Sensitive lasers are used to target and break down the unwanted spider veins through a process called photothermolysis. This bypasses normal skin, only interacting with the abnormal veins. The laser is administered in short bursts to avoid harming the skin.
Minor discomfort may be experienced, but generally laser treatment is safe and painless.

You may need 4 or 5 treatments depending on personal factors. The time interval between sessions is 6-8 weeks. You might also notice some swelling or slight bruising but this is temporary and soon fades to reveal your newly clear skin.
